Eyes Wide Open STEAM Education was founded by an experienced Information Technology educator who recognized a growing need for practical, technology-focused learning opportunities for secondary school students in Trinidad and Tobago.
Drawing on more than 21 years of experience in Information Technology education, database management, 3D printing, program development, and youth engagement, the program was created to bridge the gap between traditional classroom learning and the skills needed for success in a rapidly evolving world. From the beginning, our mission has been to provide students with access to meaningful, industry-relevant learning experiences that inspire innovation, creativity, and lifelong learning.
What began as an initiative based at Diego Martin Central Secondary School has since grown beyond its origins into an independent, not-for-profit STEAM education organization serving students, teachers and communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago. While we remain proud of where our journey began, our vision has expanded to create opportunities that reach far beyond a single school or community.
Today, Eyes Wide Open STEAM Education develops innovative learning programs, organizes educational field experiences, leads community initiatives, and creates pathways for students to explore the exciting possibilities within science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. More than a program, we are a community of learners, creators, innovators, and future leaders united by a shared belief that every student deserves the opportunity to discover their potential.
We strive to create an environment where students feel valued, inspired, and empowered to take on new challenges. Through meaningful experiences, supportive mentorship, and collaborative learning opportunities, students become part of a movement that celebrates curiosity, creativity, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence. Our goal is not only to teach skills but to cultivate confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging that encourages young people to see themselves as capable of shaping the future.
